Black & Rust began with a simple refusal to compromise.

Bringing Lagertha, my Doberman puppy, into my life changed how I viewed the world around her. It didn’t take long to see how much of what was available was built to fail: cheaply produced, short-term, or priced without justification.

Black & Rust was created as a direct response to that. From the outset, the aim was to build things properly. A “BUY THE BEST, BUY IT ONCE” ETHOS.

Every piece is proudly designed and built in Britain. We partner with the best local craftsmen to ensure nothing leaves our hands unless it meets the standard both Lagertha and I demand. Products that are deliberately over-engineered, built to endure, and trusted to perform without failure.

It began with products, but it did not stop there. The same failures became impossible to ignore across the wider DOG-SPECIFIC SERVICE LANDSCAPE which offered limited functionality, compromised safety, and systems designed to prioritise cost savings over durability, safety, and long-term use.

Black & Rust grew beyond equipment into environments and services for the same reason it began. To satisfy dogs and their humans who, like me, demand the best.

Our mission moving forward is to continue to challenge, improve, and redefine an industry that has normalised compromise.

Named after Lagertha’s distinctive colouring, chosen to immortalise
the dog that started it all.
